Lithuanian-born Julian Rachlin, a renowned violinist who has served as Music Director of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra since 2023, appears in this “Eastern Europe” program, presenting Liszt and Dvořák. The Liszt Piano Concerto features pianist Takuma Ishii, a hugely popular classical YouTuber. The second half offers Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8, composed at his country retreat in the Bohemian village of Vysoká—a work that conveys the nature of Bohemia, the homeland Dvořák loved, and the happiness and peace he found there.
