Swedish violinist Ava Bahari curates a Rising Stars recital that pairs 20th- and 21st-century discoveries with a new commission. The programme spans Blacher’s incisive Violin Sonata, Elfrida Andree’s lyrical Romances, a brand-new work by Anders Hillborg written especially for Bahari, Poulenc’s dramatic FP 119 Sonata, and a dazzling Sarasate Magic Flute fantasy. Performed without intermission as a single arc, all works are played on Bahari’s 1694 Antonio Stradivarius on loan from the Anders Sveaas' Almennyttige Fond. Pianist Nathanaël Gouin partners in all violin-and-piano pieces. The intimate acoustics of the Kleine Zaal heighten the close contact between artist and audience; drinks are included in the ticket price.
